Thirty-six year Hy-Vee veteran Bruce Bain of Corning recently announced his retirement after 14 years as manager of the Corning Hy-Vee. He will conclude his work at the end of the first quarter. “We congratulate Bruce on a very productive and fulfilling 36-year career and thank him for all he has done for our company,” said Paula Correy of Hy-Vee. “He has worked hard over the years taking good care of the Corning operation and ensuring that it grew in both sales and profits.” Bain started with Hy-Vee at the Shenandoah store as a part-time employee in 1976, moving to full-time in 1978. After 10 years, Bain transferred to Fort Madison in 1986, then was given a managerial position in Grant City in 1995 before his final career stop at the Corning location in 1997. “Thank you to all the great people I had the pleasure to meet and work with over the years,” said Bain. “I appreciate all you have done. I have enjoyed the years we have spent here in Corning and look forward to many more to come.” A southwest Iowa native, Bain and his wife Lori have two boys and two granddaughters. Following his retirement, says Bain, he will pursue his hobbies, which include boating, fishing and hunting, as well as look for opportunities to spoil his granddaughters. “He has been a great mentor to many, and he can end his long career with the satisfaction of knowing he did a terrific job for a terrific company,” said Correy. Hy-Vee will host an Open House to honor Bain at the Happy Hollow Country Club on Dec. 9, from 2-4 p.m. Share |
